Clean pavers by sweeping and hosing down regularly, then use a low-pressure wash to remove embedded dirt without stripping joint sand. Spot-clean stains with a paver-safe cleaner or diluted vinegar, and replace missing joint sand afterward. Sealing every few years keeps the surface easier to clean.

Pavers sink when the base fails: insufficient gravel depth, a base that was not compacted properly or in lifts, heavy water runoff washing out the sand bedding, or missing edge restraints that let perimeter stones creep. The fix is usually lifting the affected pavers, rebuilding that section of the base, and compacting it properly before relaying.
